Since moving here, we have loved being so close to the mountains and all the trails in the canyons. We tried to go hiking every Saturday or go up one of the canyons for a picnic. Unfortunately, we were only able to go up once for dinner and a night of making smores. The weather has turned too cold for us to take Reagan up in the evenings. It actually snowed over the weekend. hopefully we'll get a few more afternoon picnics in before it's too late.
This is one of the times we went up for an afternoon picnic. If truth be told, Aaron's parents were going up for a quit afternoon of reading in the canyon and we invited ourselves along with a picnic... and much to Cynthia's horror... Dan the dog. Sorry about that. this was the first time we took Reagan on a picnic outside -she loved it.
This is the one and only time we were able to make it up for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. our friends, Wade and Megan (last picture in this post - very lovely couple), showed us the greatest place to hang out. it was perfect.
This time around we were smarter and brought a pac-n-play for Reagan.
we're not sure who had more fun - Reagan watching the kids or the kids watching Reagan.
When it was time to eat - all the kids sat down for hot dogs, chips and desserts - a perfect dinner.
well - not quite all the kids. Little Lily was not too fond of the fire, so she preferred eating by the little stream just off to the side.
but she wasn't alone for long, soon Noah and Luke decided it was much cooler eating by the water.
Aaron, Carrie and Will preferred eating by the fire.
And of course, our lovely couple, who brought us to our new favorite spot... Wade and Megan.

It was a great adventure! And thanks to Wade and Megan, I think that's our new favorite spot, too. But my very favorite part of the evening were the hot dogs....mmmm, Aaron, weren't those yummy!
How fun. Wish we would have got the invite to come along... J/K. We miss you. Seems like you have been really busy lately. Glad to see you are doing well. Sara
I think I gave this to you right, but if not, here's the real recipe:
Butterfly Pancakes
Serves 6 From: Sara Walker
6 eggs, 1 c. milk, 1 c. flour, 1 cube butter, ½ tsp. salt.
Preheat oven to 425
Melt 1 cube butter or margarine in microwave.
Put melted butter in a 9 x 11 pan and place in oven until bubbly.
Combine eggs, milk and salt in blender. Blend until fluffy.
Tap in flour, a little at a time, beating until well blended.
Once butter is bubbly, swirl in batter over the butter and immediately return to oven.
(Pancakes will “Butterfly” up over the pan –but fall a little once out of the oven,)
Bake 25 min. and serve at once with syrup.
Love you girl! It was so fun talking to you. Sara
I sure miss the mountains. Thanks for enjoying them for me. :) And I'm especially glad you have lots of friends to share your adventures with!
When I gave you permission to post pictures of my children, I don't remember giving you permission to post horrid pictures of me! At least you could have told people that I don't look like that (well, at least not all the time).
